Anthropologists  &  Co

Mairi Brascoupé
Mairi came to the collective from Ottawa, Canada after working in fashion and costume making; with an interest in applying her Indigenous culture to her practice. With the aim of decolonising research approaches and the design process, she brings traditional knowledge into the academic space navigating between the traditional and contemporary worlds. Mawandopidjige - To Tie Together creates a new visible authenticity for Indigenous youth by weaving contemporary characteristics of adolescent identity together with traditional beading.
